Should homeowners be able to use vinyl plumbing pipes? Well some have raised concerns about the health and environmental safety of vinyl pipes that actually led to bans in places like California and New York. But according to Angela Logomasini writing in the New York Post, California recently did a study showing the benefits of plastic piping far outweigh any small risks. For starters, plastic doesn’t corrode and allow tiny leaks that can let bacteria or viruses enter water supplies. Plastic piping is also lightweight, making handling and transportation more affordable and energy efficient. Little wonder California recently lifted its ban, and New York City is being pressured to follow suit.
