The EPA recently proposed a new federal standard for ozone air pollution that is much stricter than the current limit. the benefits of this clean air requirement may be a little smoggy, at least according to a recent study by the National Center for Policy Analysis. According to the Center, this new ozone standard could cost a hefty $22 billion, making it among the most expensive regulations ever. And when you consider the government itself acknowledges that some 3,000 more deaths may occur as Americans’ incomes are diverted to comply with this regulation and away from housing, food, medical expenses and other important necessities, maybe this new clean air reg won’t leave consumers breathing easy after all!
