As delegates from around the world continue to deliberate in Copenhagen, Denmark about solutions to the alleged crisis of global warming, there is a widespread belief that the science is settled on climate change.  Indeed, Al Gore, one of the world’s leading proponents of drastic international action, firmly asserts there is a “consensus” on climate science. But that claim “goes against the way science operates,” says Dr. David Legates, atmospheric scientist at the University of Delaware. Scientists propose theories about how nature operates – and then test their theories against actual observations, and let other scientists check their data and theories too, to see if they’re right.

At least that’s how things are supposed to work. Unfortunately, as CFACT’s new “Inconvenient Science” video observes, when it comes to Earth’s complex, chaotic climate system, too many scientists have opted out of the scientific method and let their desire for a specific answer affect their search for the truth.

Mr. Gore has taken it a step further, and had the most extreme and unproven claims dominate his movie. He’s actually exploiting children and their fears, says Lord Christopher Monckton, former science advisor to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. In fact, a British high court and many real climate scientists like Dr. Legates say Mr. Gore’s movie is more propaganda than science – replete with errors. That’s maybe not surprising, as Mr. Gore had only two college science courses, notes Craig Rucker, executive director and co-founder of CFACT. “But that doesn’t make it right.”
