Should states mandate more renewable energy to produce electricity? Victor Joecks of the Nevada Policy Research Institute, says no, and is here to explain why: “All across the country, renewable portfolio standards are increasing the cost of electricity by requiring power companies to purchase energy from more expensive sources. In Nevada, our mandate requires that 25% of our electricity come from renewable energy by 2025. Our recent study finds this law will cost about $2.2 billion by 2025 and will lead to over 1,900 fewer jobs. In Nevada and all around the country, renewable portfolio standards are harming families and businesses.”
