Gullible sailors get trapped by Arctic ice

After hearing predictions from the Sierra Club and BBC that the Arctic Sea would be ice free this past summer due to global warming, a variety of adventurous yacht, sailboat, rowboat, and even kayak owners thought it would be neat to sail the fabled Northwest Passage. But alas, Arctic sea ice suddenly expanded 60 percent after the coldest winter in modern Alaskan record keeping, and more than a dozen boats became trapped. Writer Dennis Avery explains that not even Canadian icebreakers may be able to rescue them, and helicopter rescues on Arctic ice are incredibly expensive, and do nothing to save the lovely boats. So apparently, we might have to wait a few more decades for that new global warming Arctic expedition.
