Aussies cancel wind subsidies

You’ve got to hand it to the Aussies.

Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott‘s coalition came to power on a promise to scrap Australia’s hated carbon tax.

Soon after their victory, they scrapped the tax.

Now Australia’s government has ordered its “Clean Energy Finance Corporation” to provide no future subsidies for wind farms.

Abbott described wind farms as “visually awful” and Australian Treasurer Joe Hockey has called them “utterly offensive.”

Wind turbines would not exist without government subsidies.

Where they go up, rates skyrocket.

How far down this government mandated, expensive, inefficient, and environmentally unsound energy path must others go before they too wake up?

Bravo, Australia!
