The Santa Fe New Mexican’s headline for Hansen’s visit was: “A steep energy tax to curb global warming.” Perhaps Hansen was tipping his hand, confirming the rumor that Obama will approve the long-delayed, but much-needed Keystone pipeline if Congress will approve a carbon tax. Tit for tat.
What redemptive solutions are urgently implored to combat this phantom "global warming," or rather, "climate change"? We must give lots of money to the UN to redistribute; abandon fossil fuel use in favor of heavily subsidized but assuredly abundant, “free”, and “renewable” alternatives; and expand federal government growth, regulatory powers, and crony capitalist-enriched political campaign coffers.
President Obama has a perfect opportunity to restore ethics and common sense to America’s energy and environmental policies. Our planet and children hope he makes the right choice and says Yes to Keystone.

Would a carbon tax, now proposed by Green enthusiasts and revenue-hungry politicians, be good for the economy? Derrick Morgan of the Heritage Foundation says no, and here explains why:

The internet revealed the names, who turned out to be mainly the usual climate campaigners with no one in the room to offer the opposing view. Double scandal for the BBC as four BBC officials, including General Director George Entwistle, who attended the 2006 meeting, have just been disciplined or resigned for false accusations against a Thatcher-era Tory leader.

Poland, which is about to assume the EU Presidency, is so fed up with EU climate policy that on June 22 it blocked the conclusions of the EU environmental ministers council. Polish good sense blocked the ministers from recommending the EU reduce carbon emissions by 80 percent by 2050 which would devastate European economies. This would hit Poland and similar economies which have not yet recovered from their forced experiment with 20th century socialism particularly hard.
