Reality-based climate forecasting

CFACT Senior Policy Advisor Paul Driessen demonstrates how the inappropriate, politicized fixation on so-called "climate science" is not even science since it is an opinion demanding a positive conclusion and how this is both teaching bad research habits but also starving much-needed research that can yield valuable results.

Swamp draining will expose corrupt climate crocodiles

One of the biggest areas of change in government behavior under the Trump Administration may well be the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency -- where Scott Pruitt intends to return the agency to reliance on sound science that balances costs and benefits.

Trump could shutter NASA climate alarm shop

President-elect Donald Trump’s senior space policy advisor, Bob Walker, recently observed that NASA has been reduced to "a logistics agency concentrating on space station resupply and politically correct environmental monitoring." Instead, "We see NASA in an exploration role, in deep space research." He added, "Mr. Trump’s decisions will be based upon solid science, not politicized science."

Five stages of climate grief

Ever since the elections, our media, schools, workplaces, and houses of worship have presented stories showcasing the stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Liberal-progressive snowflakes are wallowing in denial, anger, and depression. They cannot work, attend class, or take exams. They need safe “healing” spaces, Play-Doh, comfort critters, and counseling. Too many throw tirades equating Donald Trump with Adolph Hitler, while too few are actually moving to Canada, New Zeeland, or Jupiter after solemnly promising they would. Nouveau grief is also characterized by the elimination of bargaining and acceptance – and their replacement by two new stages: intolerance [...]

Pipeline anarchy

Is this to be our future? Last week’s elections will soon end autocratic rule via executive fiat, the war on coal and hydrocarbons, IRS agents targeting conservative groups, government SWAT teams invading businesses and homes, and numerous other Abuses and Usurpations. But now we’re getting leftist anarchy and riots – with mindless, incoherent radicals smashing Portland storefronts, beating a Chicago motorist, and pummeling a ninth grade Woodside, California, Trump supporter. Amid it all, the epitome of nihilist, watermelon environmentalist, criminal, sore-loser fury is raging south of Bismarck, North Dakota, where thousands of “peaceful protesters” are camping illegally on federal and private lands, “venting their [...]

Climate alarmists pushing green education indoctrination

CFACT advisor H. Sterling Burnett writes the weekly climate column for The Heartland Institute -- a CFACT partner in addressing environmental education issues (such as our joint battle in West Virginia). Noting the call in the Huffington Post for even more propaganda, he warns Americans that the battle for the minds of our future generations is more intense than ever.

The EPA invites secret green activist lawsuits

As reported by CFACT advisor Larry Bell, federal agencies and environmentalist organizations have for decades been colluding to impose requirements on businesses, communities, and individuals who will have had zero knowledge or input into these onerous rules backed with the force of law that they are sorely affected by. This is wrong -- and yet the public will have to speak up loudly or this racketeering-style rulemaking behavior wil continue unabated.

Billionaire crony corporatist schemes

Shady cash from Vladimir Putin’s Russian energy oligarchs and other rich donors is being laundered through Bermuda-based lawyers and middlemen to “green” pressure groups, lobbyists, and spinmeisters – to promote “green energy” schemes that bring billions of dollars from government agencies (and thus from us taxpayers and consumers) to a cabal of billionaires and crony companies. At the epicenter are hedge fund millionaire Nathaniel Simons, his wife Laura Baxter-Simons, and their secretive Sea Change Foundation. “Investors” become even wealthier, as billions of dollars are transferred annually to environmentalists, scientists, politicians, bureaucrats, and crony-corporatists in Renewable Energy & Climate Crisis, Inc. The [...]

The battle for our grasslands and livestock

Australian rancher Viv Forbes and some colleagues have published a report urging a climate exit (Clexit) to stop the insane assault on farming and ranching that is being orchestrated by billionaires in the name of saving the environment. The real goal is total control over all human activity.

‘Clean Power Plan’ relies on dirty climate science

Draconian energy regulatory policies are being premised upon tax-funded climate alarmism promulgated by government agencies we are supposed to trust. The latest and arguably most dangerous example is the Obama Administration’s proposed “Clean Power Plan” (CPP). CPP enactment is currently subject to a pending District of Columbia Court of Appeals decision following a Supreme Court stay on constitutional challenges. If allowed to proceed, sweeping new EPA rules will effectively nationalize control over all power generation and consumption, thereby usurping authority previously exercised by individual states. Compliance will require state legislatures to pass new laws or regulations to shift energy mixes from [...]

The chemicals anxiety machine

CFACT Senior Policy Analyst Paul Driessen explains how the EPA's war on coal, petroleum, nuclear, and hydroelectric power is an eco-imperialist war on reliable, affordable electricity – and on poor and minority families. Policies that drive energy prices up drive people out of jobs, drive companies out of business, drive families into green energy poverty.

Global warming hurricane influence is overblown

No one should dispute the fact that hurricanes rank among our planet’s most terrifying and devastating natural disasters or that they are influenced by that enigmatically complex phenomena collectively referred to as “climate." Hurricane Matthew, which resulted in the tragic deaths of an estimated 34 people in the U.S., more than 500 in impoverished Haiti, and many billions of dollars of property and business losses, was clearly no exception. Climate changes and hurricanes began occurring long before the Industrial Revolution introduced smokestacks and SUVs. Sadly, and despite all best efforts of Al Gore, the United Nations, President Obama, and the EPA [...]

Energy civil rights

CFACT Senior Policy Analyst Paul Driessen explains that policies that raise electricity rates have devastating impacts on the poor and on large medical facilities who serve the poor. Thus it is ironic at best that the U.S. Civil Rights Commission has come down on the side of raising rates (in effect) by siding with the fear mongers who demand an impossible to meet standards for chromium 6 in drinking water -- standards an order of magnitude tighter than what is known to be safe.

Is climate change elevating coastal flooding risk?

While the sensationalist New York Times publishes fearmonger articles warning of imminent massive coastal flooding as a result of global warming, real-world data present a very different picture -- for example, the Marshall Islands have actually GAINED land mass since World War II. Not even Warren Buffett is concerned.

Stealth advocacy on climate change: A catastrophic failure of science

By Calvin Beisner The planet is doomed unless humans achieve zero net “carbon” emissions within 40 years—and maybe even if we do. That’s the word from 11 co-authors, led by Johan Rockstöm of the Stockholm Resilience Centre, of a pseudo-scientific screed published August 24 in Earth’s Future, an open-access online journal of the American Geophysical Union. Here’s the abstract: The scale of the decarbonisation challenge to meet the Paris Agreement is underplayed in the public arena. It will require precipitous emission reductions and a new carbon sink on the scale of the ocean sink within 40 years. Even then, the world is [...]
