Should Congress enact a moratorium on federal land purchases? Nationally syndicated columnist Deroy Murdock believes so, and has this to say: “The federal government already owns and mismanages over 650 million acres of land, an area equivalent to all of Alaska, Texas, and California combined! Nonetheless, President Obama still wants to add another 1.8 million acres to the government’s portfolio. This is environmentally irresponsible when failed federal stewardship, such as restricting salvage logging of dead trees, lets lightning bolts reduce forests into ashes. Nationalizing more acres will mean more wildfires that cremate birds, butterflies, and other creatures. Enough is enough!”
