Nate Myers is Committee for A Constructive Tomorrow’s Collegian National Field Coordinator. Before working for CFACT, Nate served as Development Coordinator for The Heartland Institute and Tennessee State Chair for Young Americans for Liberty. Holding a BA in history from Southern Wesleyan University, Nate enjoys weightlifting, white water rafting, gardening, and RTS video games.

Clemson and Lipscomb Students Expose Green Energy

CFACT Collegians Anna-Ramsey Watson of Clemson University and Taylor Elliott of Lipscomb University recently brought CFACT’s “Green Energy Kills” message to their fellow students with a creative twist: “Pin the Tail on the Energy Donkey.” The game challenged students to match the negative consequences of so-called “clean energy” with the energy sources responsible for them. Students were given slips of paper listing harmful effects connected to wind and solar power, then asked to “pin” each one to the correct energy source. SUNY Students Discover Capitalism = Conservation

At a college dedicated to environmental science and forestry in a very liberal state, CFACT Collegian Tatiana Romero brought a message students rarely hear in class: only capitalism can save the environment, not the government. On April 14, Tatiana hosted a “Free Market Conservation” tabling event at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, engaging students with examples of practical environmental solutions that come from private enterprise rather than government mandates. CFACT Collegians Fuel Federal Energy Debate

CFACT Collegians are once again stepping into the federal rulemaking process, urging agencies to choose practical, science-based regulations over red tape that punishes American energy production. Taylor Elliott of Lipscomb University in Tennessee, Thien Nguyen of the University of Texas at Austin, and Zach Lochard of Southern Illinois University Carbondale each weighed in on a different federal proposal. GA, MA, & MI Collegians Champion Fusion as the Future

From Georgia to Michigan, CFACT collegians are urging federal regulators not to smother America’s next great energy breakthrough in red tape. As the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission considers its regulatory framework for fusion energy systems, three CFACT students submitted public comments calling for a clear, streamlined approach that recognizes fusion’s unique safety profile and enormous potential for American energy dominance. The Hills Are Alive With CFACT

This spring, students in California and Illinois led nature-focused hikes that brought CFACT’s message directly onto the trail. At San Diego State University, CFACT collegians Caleb Rothstein and Jack Krepps led a group hike at Cowles Mountain in Mission Trails Regional Park, providing scenic views of the Pacific Ocean, the perfect visual for attending students as they learned from Caleb and Jack how offshore wind is detrimental to endangered whale species. Tennessee Collegians Reel in Conservation

CFACT Collegians Sophie Fuller and Markus Fee of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga recently took students off campus and out onto Chickamauga Lake for an afternoon of fishing, fellowship, and hands-on conservation. The fishing trip brought together 10 attendees on April 28, including UTC students and several community members, for three hours on the water in Chattanooga. Nuclear Wins the California Energy Face-Off

CFACT Collegian Kaeli McIntyre brought a new kind of energy debate to Clovis Community College this semester, giving students a side-by-side look at nuclear, solar, and wind power. On February 26, Kaeli set up her “Clean Energy Face-Off” board on campus with several friends who helped draw students toward the display. The handmade board compared nuclear, solar, and wind across several key categories: whether each source is carbon emissions-free, works at night, has strong energy density, uses land efficiently, and provides reliable power around the clock. NC Collegian Op-Ed Champions Private Conservation

IL Lawmakers Get CFACT-Checked

CFACT students took the fight for energy sanity straight to the Illinois State Capitol. On May 1, National Director Nate Myers met CFACT collegian Zach Lochard in Springfield, Illinois, along with two newly recruited students: Matt Saner of Illinois State University and Conner McEleney of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Together, the group spent several hours conducting a “hill-drop,” personally delivering CFACT literature to every available Illinois state lawmaker's office. Tree-mendous Environmental Stewardship at UF

While many students spent finals week buried in textbooks, CFACT Collegian Lena Zizza and a group of University of Florida students headed outdoors to leave something lasting behind: a native tree planted near Lake Alice. On April 23, Lena hosted a tree planting ceremony at the University of Florida, bringing together seven students from various campus organizations to plant a Green Ash tree, a species native to Florida. Mississippi State Collegian Hosts Talk with Ag Commissioner Andy Gipson

CFACT Collegian Addy Rose Knotts brought a strong dose of freedom and Mississippi common sense to campus this April, hosting Mississippi Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Andy Gipson at Mississippi State University for a speaker event focused on constitutional liberty, agriculture, and conservative leadership.
