Suing Uncle Sam can often be a difficult and costly endeavor – difficult, that is, unless you happen to be an environmental policy organization staffed with a large number of lawyers. This according to a recent report from the GAO which found that over the last decade well over 10 million taxpayer dollars have been sent to Green groups suing the EPA over various environmental regulations. Among those handsomely awarded were the NRDC and Sierra Club, which together collected over $1.2 million, and the group Earth Justice, which alone raked in a hefty $4.3 million in attorney’s fees. Apparently there’s more than one shade of “green” to be had in saving the earth!
