Peer reviewed paper: It’s OK to lie about climate

You won’t find it shocking to learn that suppressing inconvenient facts, lying about climate science and exaggerating tales about natural weather are deliberate strategies for global warming campaigners.

What will shock you is that two professors not only candidly admit it, but published a paper in a peer reviewed journal touting the beneficial effects of lying for pushing nations into a UN climate treaty in Paris next year!

The title of their study?

“Information Manipulation and Climate Agreements.”

See for yourself.  You can read the abstract for their article in the American Journal of Agricultural Economics, here.

People ask me all the time, how can the global warming crowd tell such whoppers?

Well here’s the answer.

They not only believe that their dubious ends justify their shady means, they institutionalize “information manipulation” as a tactic, host panels about it at climate conferences and publish it in journals.

They’re shameless.

Take a look at this advance draft from CFACT President David Rothbard for one of our  upcoming Just the Facts radio broadcasts:

“Global warming skeptics have long charged that alarmists are over-hyping the dangers of climate change. Now comes a new paper from two economists in Singapore and Hong Kong that actually advocates exaggerating global warming fears to get countries on board international environmental agreements.

According to Kevin Glass of, the paper claims that the urgency of climate change makes it OK to deceive the public about the projected consequences of global warming. They don’t actually use the word “lying,” but by calling for “informational manipulation and exaggeration,” they certainly think the ends justify these very questionable and over-heated means.”

We exposed these two professors paper on the utility of lying on Facebook and over 1,500 people shared it right away.

Please take a moment to forward this article to a friend, then click the link, share, add your comments, and help us expose the global warming campaign for its convenient use of distortion and exaggeration.

It seems they say by one analysis it helps and by another it doesn’t. Astoundingly frank to do, if not actually surprising when hearing actual scientists talk about doing the same thing has been news for a long time.

Until I read this article,I had no idea climate scientists were descended from the gods. Their noble machinations, saving us ignorant peasants from ourselves can only be attributed to the purpose of a deity.

I stand in awe of them all.

Ya Satan’s New Plan to take Dominion away from man and bring back SLAVERY. Slaves that march to George Soros New Communist Take over. The takeover of our young people’s mind by a new Communist doctrine Agenda 21, being pushed by a new organization NATO, But the same old slavery. Slavery to stupidity. Marching like lemmings to a pied-piper of made up lies. Fooled into giving up the Keystone pipeline tell it is completely under communist control and suddenly these Global Warming Pied Pipers change their tune in the name of humanity and build it. All this SLAVERY CRAP IS WRITTEN IN THE COMMUNIST MANIFESTO FOR TAKEOVER OF NATIONS AND ENSLAVING THEIR YOUNG WITH A NEW INDOCTRINATION. Slaves of the young minds first. A takeover gone unnoticed by all.

At least they are “honest” liars! How pathetic.

The number of polar bears is usedvanlig as an argument, but the number of polar bears has ingressen from 5000 in 1950 to 32000

This is a piece of pure propaganda. The research paper does not advocate anything of the kind. It is analyzing a phenomenon that is completely common and unsurprising. Groups advocating for a certain policy sometimes exaggerate or distort information in order to promote policy goals.
This pear says that doing so can have some benefits but it can have down sides to.
ACCUSING scientists of promoting lying about climate change would be the same as saying that you promoted communism if you did research that showed Stalin killing millions of people led to more political stability in the Soviet Union.
the fact that you saw a valid correlation does NOT mean that you think it is a good thing or that others should do so.
In fact your lying about what this paper says is exactly what you are accusing them of doing.

    • Tim C. April 2, 2015 at 1:10 PM

Your claim, “The research paper does not advocate anything of the kind.”

Their words, “It appears that news media and some pro-environmental organizations have the tendency to accentuate or even exaggerate [i.e lie about] the damage caused by climate change. This article provides a RATIONALE for this tendency…” emphasis added. So you either did not actually read their words or you’re just another one of the mindless sycophants touting the lie to feel good about yourself.

“It appears that news media and some pro-environmental organizations have the tendency to accentuate or even exaggerate [i.e. lie about] the damage caused by climate change. This article provides a RATIONALE for this tendency…”

Some news media and pro-environmental organizations. Not articles in peer reviewed journals.

Real scientist all know that volcanic activity routinely puts Sulfur Dioxide in the upper atmosphere that blocks out the Sun making it, of course, colder.
Recently, before it got colder, when these fake scientist were pushing warming and after this was reported about the effects of Sulfur Dioxide by volcanic activity Richard Branson and Bill Gates contributed billions to clean, among other contaminates, Sulfur Dioxide out of all aircraft fuels. Just who ELECTED them to do so?? All flight was canceled on the north american continent after 9/11 for two weeks and the largest spike of temperature in history was the result, a full 2 degrees fahrenheit in just two weeks of our average continental temperature. WHO ELECTED THEM TO DO THAT?? Who elected anyone that came up with Agenda 21 in NATO?? USA DEFUND NATO NOW !!!! If we had that kind of stupidity in the united states of the time then the write Brothers never flew. DEFUND NATO NOW !!!

A little humour on the subject…

    • Voodude December 27, 2014 at 11:09 AM

      this one also seemed appropriate

It’s kind of ironic. Science denier shills are getting their dander up because a couple of guys recommend lying to further the truth even though said science denying shills’ raison detre is lying to further other lies – all day, every day. I guess double standards go hand in hand with being pathological liars.

    • Lee O. Welter June 17, 2017 at 12:23 PM

The Cult of Anthropogenic Climate Alteration seeks an alternative reality. Science is the search for truth, not a belief system that may not be examined nor questioned. “Lying to further the truth” is a very revealing statement.

      • Kyle July 4, 2017 at 8:28 PM

The only cult is the one made up of people who have fallen for the denial industry’s propaganda and spread it free of charge. You are 100% misinformed. Your conspiracy theory conception of decades of globally produced science by thousands of researchers is both utterly fantastical and absolutely evidence-free. In fact, the ginned up fake evidence of the denial industry is some of the best evidence there is against denial – if you possess both critical thinking skills and a desire to find the truth.
