President Bush has proposed selective new logging to keep down the threat of catastrophic wildfire.  But according to an article in Human Events, many environmental groups continue to irrationally blast the Presidents’ plan. The extremist Center for Biological Diversity said the plan is simply using public hysteria of fire to elevate logging levels, while the liberal NRDC said the President is looking to quote “torch our most basic environmental protections in the guise of forest prevention.”  But when you consider that Arizona’s Rodeo-Chediski fire destroyed an area 60 percent the size of Rhode Island, yet many forest officials affirm that forest thinning could have kept such fires from exploding, it sounds like these Greens still can’t see the forest for the trees.
