Three years ago, the EPA put out an alarming report about the dangers of dioxin, so Congress requested an independent review.  But according to science writer Steve Milloy, the EPA is still ignoring this request, probably because it knows its report won’t withstand scientific scrutiny.  Milloy says the EPA as always wanted to conclude that dioxin is cancer causing, even at the smallest exposure.  Yet experts know that typical exposures to dioxin are harmless, as a single serving of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream has been measured to contain 2,000 times the dioxin the EPA claims is safe.  So maybe it’s time for Congress to stop politely requesting the review, and order that it be done immediately.
