Not long ago, several western states filed lawsuits against the EPA for not regulating greenhouse gases.  But according to a recent paper by the Pacific Research Institute, it’s these lawsuits, and not the EPA’s lack of regulation, that’ll cause greater harm to U.S. citizens.  Comments study co-author Ben Zycher: “There’s no scientific consensus on the long-term effects of increasing carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere.  And that is only one reason among many that the attorneys general lawsuit is misguided.  It alleges the existence of a consensus that in fact is not present.  There is no requirement under federal law that carbon dioxide be treated as a pollutant. If the attorneys general are successful, it will impose substantial costs on the U.S. economy.”
