Is there an domestic alternative, beyond the use of hydrogen or electricity, to fuel our cars that is safe and affordable? Well the answer is yes, according to the Cascade Institute’s Angela Eckhardt, who recently studied the issue and gives a strong thumbs up to the use of biodiesel fuel. Comments Echardt: “Biodiesel is so easy to make that it could literally put power into the hands of every American, but only if the industry if freed of controls. Instead of subsidies and use mandates, we should simply set farmers free to process, sell and directly profit from their own fuel crops without interference. Private investment will do the rest to provide an abundant, cheap, homegrown fuel that lifts us out of dependance on foreign energy sources.”
