For those convinced that man-made global warming needs immediate attention, there is much focus on a so-called “cap and trade” policy that would set a mandatory limit on total emissions. But according to Dr. Kenneth Green on TechCentral Station, the proposed limits are unreachable, and would cost Americans dearly. He notes that meeting proposed targets would require emissions reductions 25 to 35 times greater than what occurred between 1990 and 2000, and that technologies simply do not exist to reach that kind of total. Since the annual loss to the U.S. economy would range as high as $1 trillion per year after 2015, with a loss of up to 3.4 million jobs, there appear to be some serious problems with this proposed climate solution.
