When tornadoes recently ripped through Tennessee causing much damage and devastation, Senator John Kerry was quick to pronounce that this was yet more proof that catastrophic climate change was causing “more and more intense storms.” But according to Robert Ferguson of the Science and Public Policy Institute in Washington, the records indicate that winter outbreaks of tornadoes in Tennessee are not a new phenomenon, and that the worse twister outbreak actually occurred, not recently, but back in 1974. When one also considers most experts say the number of such tornado rampages are actually diminishing in recent decades, it appears the Senator’s comments linking tornadoes to global warming are spinning around the true facts.
