Al Gore says that because of global warming, the oceans may rise by 18 feet. His science advisor, James Hansen, says it could eventually be 75 feet. And eco-author Bill McKibben says we are engaging in a reckless drive-by drowning of the planet. But according to an article by renowned global warming realist Bjorn Lomborg, there is a slightly inconvenient truth – namely, over the past two years, global sea levels haven’t increased at all. In fact, they’ve slightly declined. Indeed, since 1992, satellites have measured global sea level every ten days down to an accuracy of 3 to 4 millimeters, and have revealed the slight decline. This doesn’t mean natural sea level rise might not pick up again. But it would have to accelerate 40-fold to meet Al Gore’s doomsday drowning scenarios.
