Is America headed toward a future energy crisis? Maybe so, according to a study by the NextGen Energy Council, which recently released a report raising alarm about our current energy situation. Comments NextGen spokesman, Jim Sims: “U.S. baseload reserve margins have declined precipitously to 17 percent last year, down from 30-40 percent in the early 1990s. America will require at least $300 billion in generation and transmission facility investments by 2016 to meet its future energy needs, and wind and solar alone cannot do it. Unless America looks to increase it’s generating capacity now, our nation’s electricity system will clearly be in trouble.”
