Environmental groups often like to portray themselves as “blue-jean defenders of Mother Earth.” But would it surprise you this is largely a myth? Well such is the claim of author David Horowitz, who in his recent book The New Leviathan documents the incredible amount of money environmental groups receive each year principally from wealthy foundations and the government. According to Horowitz, no fewer than 552 groups promoting greater government control over the environment now receive $3.56 billion of revenue, giving them a super-favorable 37 to 1 advantage over the free-market groups opposing their agenda. No doubt today’s Green groups have learned a lot about raising green dollars.
