Is the new Cold War about energy control rather than information and weapons control? Could U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) be an unwitting dupe or a Putin plant? Evidence suggests the answer to the first is yes. The second question may not be answerable, but the facts suggest the answer is a definite maybe.

Let’s examine them, and the state of the world today post WWII.

The United States has established itself as the greatest oil producer in the world ahead of Russia and Saudi Arabia. There is a power dynamic from being oil independent that cannot be ignored. Putin knows this. The Saudis know this. The 184 countries that signed the Paris Accord know this and are aware they need to align themselves with an energy giant. Traditionally that giant was the U.S., but the gild is coming off the lily. Russia has traditionally been painted as the bad guy.

Prosperity around the world from deep earth minerals/fuels is now being weaponized against the West since the oil, natural gas and particularly coal prosperity has led to reduced infant mortality, extended lifespans, and allowed the movement of goods and people anywhere in the world via the diesel engine and jet turbine. Both have done more for the cause of globalization than anything else; and both get their fuels from oil.  Without transportation – there is no commerce – since globalized road and air travel dominate most people’s lives in industrialized countries and emerging markets.

Putin knows this. Bin Saud knows this, Xi knows this and our leaders know this. The information war has no clear sides. It’s a fool’s errand to try and win at that game. The guy who was hacking for you yesterday could be hacking for your adversary tomorrow.

The new game in town is energy. He who controls the transportation, commerce, and the military controls the world. Those clear-cut alliances of yesteryear in Europe and Asia are becoming less and less defined. With Putin’s understanding of the world market and modern society’s dependence on deep earth fuels, he is attempting to corner the market and wrestle control away from the West.

The Green New Deal’s push to bad mouth deep earth fuels and transform the U.S. The Green New Deal is the Left's worst enemyand eventually the world into an ecologically sound “utopia” of intermittent electricity is a dream come true for Putin and it seems his poster child is Alexandria Ocasia-Cortez. She has wrestled the microphone away from the clear-headed thinkers in our country and started a movement that stinks of Putin and his desire to dominate the world. It’s either a rookie mistake or a well thought out plan concocted by the once high colonel of the KGB, Vladimir Putin.

The rep from New York City is attempting to relinquish the power struggle over the control of deep earth minerals by declaring them bad saying we don’t want or need them anymore. Nothing could be further from the truth.

While the U.S. has stalled efforts to build pipelines to transfer its precious oil to California and other stopping points across this great nation, Putin has hooked Germany, the European Union and most of Central Asia on the availability of Russian natural gas via its Nord Stream pipelines.

Turkey, once a reliable NATO ally, is leaning away from tradition also. In 2018 it purchased the Russian-made S-400 Triumf anti-aircraft missile system and is looking forward to the completion of the TurkStream pipeline (with Greece’s help) which will connect it to Russia’s natural gas supply lines.

They are saying goodby to a long-standing alliance with the West and hooking their wagon to the new leader of the pack.

If we’re not careful, we could lose all our alliances across the pond to Putin and that is not a good thing. The convenience of Russian natural gas right there in their backyards may be too enticing of a package to resist.

The Paris Climate Change Agreement (Paris Accord) was signed by India but they have been increasing their use of deep earth fuels by five percent each year. Most of the world is talking climate change but their superstructures are dependent on the density of oil, coal and natural gas to keep running around the clock. The concern is there, but in reality, the change is not coming.

With that said, it appears the answer to the question is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her well-publicized New Green Deal, may be a Russian ploy. She’s right in line with Putin’s desire to encourage the “leaders” of the 184 ratifying countries of the Paris Agreement, and California, to delay and eventually stop any further exploration of deep earth minerals by diverting those countries’ efforts toward intermittent renewables of wind and solar for electricity.

This not an indictment of the esteemed congressperson. This is an examination of the facts and exposing the similarities and possibilities. Russia, but not the 184 countries that have ratified the Paris Climate Agreement and California, is well aware that electricity alone, especially intermittent electricity from renewables, has not, and will not, run the economies in the world; electricity alone is unable to support the energy demands of the military, airlines, medical industry, cruise ships, supertankers, container shipping, and trucking infrastructures. Moreover, it is no secret Putin is well aware that whoever controls the sale and distribution of deep earth minerals and fuels controls the world.
