Some Greens are waking up to the ills of so-called “green” energy. And it’s about time. And rather fun to watch – if the drive for the holier-than-thou green grail hadn’t already done so much damage to the beautiful environment of our great country.

Basin and Range Watch posted on X: 4,200 Joshua trees are scheduled to be removed and replaced by solar panels for the Aratina Solar Project near Boron, CA, in June of this year. The trees will not be salvaged, but funds based on their size will be placed in a mitigation bank.

Wow, but keep in mind Joshua trees are not very big. And how do they figure out the fund size? Who cares?! If they can be cavalier about thousands of Joshua trees, think about what else will not be worth salvaging.

Jason Brown, on sierrawave.net, posted a short piece titled “Shadows Over Joshua Tree: Sacrificing Nature for Solar Power”. He notes:

“In 2023, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service determined that Joshua Trees are not endangered. They concluded they are unlikely to be significantly threatened in the next 50 years … However, a study conducted in 2013 revealed that Joshua trees are experiencing a halt in reproduction across approximately half of their range within Joshua Tree National Park. As temperatures rise and conditions become drier, it is anticipated that the available habitat for Joshua trees will diminish significantly. By the end of the century, as much as 90 percent of the Joshua Tree habitat could vanish due to these environmental changes. You read that right, a reduction of 90 percent.”

But don’t worry, Aratina Solar is going to use some of the lucre they get from the government to do such good things for the people of the area:

“Some of our recent support of the local community has included:

  • Backpack giveaways for Boron elementary and middle school students in need with the Boron Library.
  • Libraries STEM craft programs for kids across East Kern County, made possible through on-going support.
  • Edwards Library Summer Reading Program and 2022 Easter Egg-stravaganza with the Edwards AFB Force Support Squadron.
  • Sporting equipment and sport league registration fees for families in need through the non-profit Reggie’s Kicks for Kids
  • Breakfast With the Easter Bunny and Easter Carnival with Boron High School”

Goody, goody. No Joshua trees, kids, but you get breakfast with the Easter Bunny.

Arantina’s Avantus (formerly 8-Minute Solar Energy) admits it has every intention of chopping down the Joshua Trees on its website:

The kicker…they are destroying the dress to save the trees from ‘climate change’“.

Will – can — the greens wake up to the idiocy of so-called green energy that is not green and its ability to produce energy requires mega-bucks –both now and at the meter — and causes way too much environmental damage?

Leslie Eastman, from an article in Legal Insurrection, says the solar project is destroying the Joshua trees…to save the Joshua Trees from “climate change.” Duh!

Eastman says it well:

“So, in the name of our Solar Agenda, to protect the world from greenhouse gases, let’s destroy another species and wait until it is too late to save them. I am not anti-solar. I am anti-destroying a species for the sake of an agenda.”

The trouble is that the “climate crisis” narrative has given those who wish to impose a particular green energy source on us the moral authority to do so.

This particular saga began in 2021 when the Kern County Board of Supervisors approved the Aratina Solar Project despite residents’ objections.”

The people of Kern County were against the solar project, yet the Kern County Board weighed the will of the people against the money from Aratina, and the people lost. And the Joshua Trees lost even more. How green is that?
