There are two times in my life where the weather being nice likely changed the course of our country.

The first was the JFK assassination  The forecasts the day before were for rain to continue in  Dallas Fort Worth through the time JFK was supposed to be in his motorcade.  The front moved faster, a classic case of rain at 7 gone by 11.  If it is raining the motorcade top is up and there is likely no target waving at the crowds.

And then there is 9/11

Category 3 Erin is offshore with pristine weather to the west. The ridge of high pressure and the natural sinking outside the hurricane made for Sept 11 being about as clear as you can have it.  If Erin is further west, in close enough to impact the Northeast, chances are flight delays would have led to a different result

So the weather being nice, had an adverse effect on our nation. In the case of Kennedy, the Vietnam War followed. Many historians are convinced that JFK would have never gotten bogged down in a land war in Southeast Asia as one of his heroes was Douglas MacArthur, who advised against it. But we will never know,  In any case, it is my opinion that the idealistic innocence of the nation was taken from us starting with that assassination, Though Reagan tried to get it back, the chicken has come home to roost as that generation is now in power and many are authoritarian.  They have become the machine they railed against.

As for 9/11,its another response that in retrospect destroyed whatever innocence that was left. Think about it and come to your own conclusion. Both events would not have happened if the weather was bad, and both events were followed by an extended period of commitment of time, treasure, and most importantly blood of our nation. Some response was requited no doubt,  And its likely if it did not happen on that day, it would have happened in some form later,  But the point is the weather impacted the timing of it.

Gives you more appreciation for the times the weather is not so good.  After all, it was reportedly said, oddly enough by Lady Bird Johnson, whose husband oversaw the increasing commitment post-assassination in Vietnam, that for every drop of rain that falls, a flower grows   Well a rainy day in both cases likely would have led to a different result.

Sometimes too much sun can get you burned.
