Everyone knows that oil comes from decayed plants and animals, right? Well maybe not, according to a fascinating article by the Heartland Institute, which notes that Russian scientists have published hundreds of papers on the non-biological formation of oil, and say it’s produced naturally within the earth and then trapped in geological formations as it flows toward the surface. In America, the late Thomas Gold of Cornell University strongly agreed with the Russian theory, and explained that hydrogen can combine with carbon to form crude oil whether organic life is present, or not. With proven oil reserves still growing each year, despite worldwide demand, maybe the dipstick isn’t so high after all with the theory of biological oil.
