NIPCC Report 2011 Update

S. Fred Singer is Professor Emeritus at the University of Virg inia and chairman of the Science & Env iron mental Policy Pro ject (SEPP).  His specialty is atmospheric and space physics. An expert in remote sensing and satellites, he served as the founding director of the US Weather Satellite Serv ice and, more recently, as vice chair of the US National Advisory Co mmittee on Oceans & Atmosphere.  In 2007, he founded the NIPCC (Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change), providing an alternative scientific voice to the UN’s IPCC (intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change). He edited the first NIPCC report [...]

Morano on Fox News on collapse of global warming science

CFACT's Marc Morano, editor of ClimateDepot, appeared on Fox News to discuss the collapse of scientific support for man-made global warming, and specifically a new peer-reviewed paper by Dr. Roy Spencer that shows global temperatures have not been warming according to NASA satellite data. Morano said that as the man-made global warming fear is exposed as "sub-prime science,"  the alarmists will find other justifications because it "is a political movement at its heart. . . Al Gore is going to try to shift this into an extreme weather event. They are now going to say that every weather event from tornadoes, [...]

CFACT / EIKE scientific briefing – Bonn climate conference. Watch now from the UNFCCC

Scientific briefing CLICK TO VIEW NOW This morning CFACT & EIKE presented a scientific briefing at the UN conference on climate change in Bonn, Germany.  The briefing was introduced by Wolfgang Müller of EIKE and Berlin's Manhattan Institut and featured Professor em. Friedrich Karl Ewert a geologist from Paderborn University and Dr. Horst Borchert of the Johannes-Gutenberg Universität in Mainz.  The presentations build upon the analysis of Professor S. Fred Singer and provide information on the geological record, solar activity and the big question -- is our climate governed by man or nature?

Global warming forecasts clouded by clouds

The journal Science recently published a study that says warming temperatures will create fewer clouds – and fewer clouds means more global warming. But Dr. Roy spencer, a former NASA climatologist, says the study is dead wrong, and here explains why: "We believe that the Dessler study confuses cause and effect. For example when the Pacific trade winds weaken, as an El Nino begins to form, the satellite shows a decrease in clouds which then slowly contributes to warming associated with the El Nino. But Dessler sees the warming and claims that it caused the decrease in cloud cover, [...]

A step-change in Earth’s climate outlook?

As Britain suffers through its third straight harsh winter, a British watchdog group is calling for an inquiry into the failed recent long-range weather forecasts of the British Meteorological Office. DENNIS AVERY The Met Office has long one of the leading promoters of man-made warming fears and therefore has tended to see warming around every corner. Dr. Benny Peiser of the Global Warming Policy Foundation says, “The current winter fiasco is no longer a joke, as the economic damage to the British economy as a result of the country’s ill-preparedness . . . could reach $15 billion.” The Met Office informed [...]

CFACT video links climate conferences in Berlin & Cancun. Dr. Spencer joins from Alabama

CFACT recently created a live video conference which linked our climate conference in Berlin to the UN conference in Cancun and Professor Roy Spencer in Huntsville, Alabama.  Lord Christopher Monckton and CFACT Executive Director Craig Rucker reported from Cancun.  Participants in the Berlin conference, which CFACT co-sponsored with EIKE and other groups, have since described the video link as a "highpoint." Here's an extensive report (auf Deutsch).   Berlin, Berlin, wir waren in Berlin. CFACT thanks all of our friends in Europe for their hard work in making this conference a great success.  The continued opening of the European mind is one [...]

Hype versus reality on Indian climate change

The Cancun global warming and wealth redistribution summit concluded last week, with little to show for two weeks of talking in 5-star hotels and restaurants, other than vague promises that countries will try to do something meaningful about the “threat” of “dangerous” climate change. Indian Environment and Forests Minister Jairam Ramesh nevertheless praised the summit. Rich countries will finance global warming adaptation measures in poor countries, he announced, invoking the good will of “goddesses” of Mexico to achieve some degree of public relations success. (At least they promised, again, to provide some financing … someday … from somewhere.) Meanwhile, the Northern [...]

Do you believe in magic . . . climate numbers?

Average annual global temperatures have risen a degree or two since the Little Ice Age ended some 150 years ago. Thank goodness. The LIA was not a particularly pleasant time.Prolonged winters, advancing glaciers, colder summers, more frequent storms and extended cloudiness reduced arable land, shortened growing seasons, rotted grain in wet fields, and brought famine, disease and death. Coming after the prosperous Medieval Warm Period – when farmers grew wine grapes in England and Vikings raised crops and cattle in Greenland – it must have been quite a shock. The LIA underscored how much better a warmer planet is than a colder [...]

CFACT press conference: 1000+ scientists dissent on warming — The Morano Report

By Craig Rucker Executive Director, The Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow This was a big day for CFACT at COP16. We held our press conference in the Cancunmesse. The last few days have been jam packed. Yesterday my colleague David Rothbard reported on the tour CFACT conducted of a Mexican village minutes from the conference where people live without electricity. While we heard tales of how hard it is to cook when you can't afford fuel, Marc Morano, founder of CFACT's award winning Climate Depot web site released a major new report which turns the idea of consensus science on its [...]

Statement of Dr. Roy W. Spencer

The Dessler Cloud Feedback Paper in Science: Step Backward for Climate Research Statement of Dr. Roy W. Spencer Principal Research Scientist The University of Alabama Huntsville How clouds respond to warming – the ‘cloud feedback’ problem – will likely determine whether manmade global warming becomes either the defining environmental event of the 21st Century, or is merely lost in the noise of natural climate variability. Unfortunately, diagnosing cloud feedback from our global satellite observations has been surprisingly difficult. The problem isn’t the quality of the data, though. The problem is figuring out what the cloud and temperature behaviors we observe in [...]

Exclusive CFACT interview: UN climate chief Pachauri ignorant of 15 years without warming

Cancun, Mexico--At COP16, the UN Climate Change Conference in Cancun, CFACT had the opportunity to interview the chair of the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), Rajendra Pachauri. When asked about the fact that there has been no statistically significant global warming for the past 15 years, Pachauri became evasive. Even Phil Jones, a climatologist at the University of East Anglia and a prominent global warming alarmist, admitted this fact in the wake of Climategate. A year after Climategate, however, the IPCC's Pachauri still refuses to face reality and clings to the deeply flawed 4th Assessment Report, which has been [...]

Mrs. Madoff exonerates Michael Mann

Pennsylvania State University recently released a report summarizing its final “investigation” into whether one of its employees had committed scientific misconduct. The report exonerated Dr. Michael Mann of all charges, although he did receive a tap on the wrist – for sharing unpublished manuscripts with third parties without first getting the authors’ permission! The result was hardly unexpected. Most experts who question climate disaster claims had assumed Penn State would produce a whitewash.  PSU stood to lose significantly in reputation and dollars if it found that Dr. Mann had cheated on research and engaged in other conduct unbecoming of a university professor.  [...]
