Is the most commonly used herbicide in the developing world, known as paraquat,  a threat to human health and the environment?  Well many environmentalists say “yes” and have called for its ban by the international community. But as reported by the news source Tech Central Station, a growing number of scientific studies dispute this toxic claim.  This is because the herbicide paraquat tends not to be absorbed by the skin to any great extent, and it has, as yet, to be shown to be a health hazard when inhaled.  Further, since the chemical herbicide tends to bond with soil while undergoing its breakdown, it doesn’t leach into water tables and thus adversely harm the environment.  So it seems like scientific concerns over this herbicide are growing weeds indeed!
