Are fruits and vegetables imported from foreign lands safe to eat?  Well largely because of environmentalist hype about unsafe levels of pesticides, as many as 7 out of 10 Americans believe imported foods are risky.  But according to a report by Consumer Alert, such claims about unsafe produce are, well, just a bit fruity.  The report notes that imported foods must meet the same pesticide requirements as domestic produce, and more than half of the samples tested by the FDA in recent years reveal most imports are completely pesticide free.  Indeed, with only three percent of all foreign produce deemed unfit for U.S. shelves, it appears such hype about imported fruits and vegetables is rotten right down to the core.
