2Although not widely known in much of the country, a good number of Southerners like to cook their turkeys deep-fried, often in a 40-quart fryer filled with peanut oil. But what to do with all that leftover gunk? Well, if you’re in the city of Plano, Texas, you might find that many of your publicly-owned vehicles are now running on that sticky, oooey substance! This, according to an article in Perc Reports which notes that under a new city-wide program, residents are able to call for a pickup truck to come and cart-off all their spent turkey-fryer oil to a local business which converts it into biodiesel fuel. That fuel now powers a number of the city’s 700 plus vehicles both saving money and lowering emissions. Sounds like a plan that’s finger-licking good!
