President Obama has made it a priority to promote green jobs over others and subsidize renewable energy. Sterling Burnett, a senior fellow at the National Center for Policy Analysis, argues that this policy is misguided, and has this to say: “Research in Europe and America shows that so-called ‘green jobs’ stimulus spending by the government actually causes a loss of jobs in the overall economy. The policies also raise energy prices, hurting consumers at the pump and when they pay their utility bills. Rather than promoting these wasteful efforts that actually damage the U.S. economy, the president should be calling for a level playing field that treats all sources of energy equally. Now that would boost the economy!”
