Billionaires are under attack.

You might find it hard to sympathize.  The Left is counting on that.  Envy is in vogue.

Left-wing economists, political candidates and a legion of activists are regularly demonizing the wealthiest among us and planning to confiscate their funds through new taxes.  That their math doesn’t add up doesn’t faze them.  Left-wing math never does.

Seizing all of the assets of every billionaire in America would not be enough to pay for the incredible spending plans people like Bernie Sanders are proposing.

As Margaret Thatcher wisely told us, “the problem with Socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money.”

Sadly, some billionaires are attempting to stave off the assault by turning to appeasement.  Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, for instance, just announced that he is donating $10 billion to fight climate change — something Kenneth Green called at CFACT.org “the world’s largest virtue-signal.”   Bezos’ donation will only result in empowering the very leftists he fears most.  It will not result in altering the future temperature of the Earth.

Pete Murphy minces no words in his article at CFACT.org:

Bezos’ Earth Fund unfortunately could instead perpetuate the gigantic climate cottage industry by funding many activist hucksters and snake-oil salesmen with Ph.Ds wedded to an overheated planet from man-made causes. That would be $10 billion wasted.

Michael Bloomberg is another incredibly wealthy American spending money not only trying to buy the presidency, but state Attorneys General as well:

This latest Bloomberg climate hobbyhorse of buying off state Attorneys General is not about bribing any of them, as such would be illegal. Even better – he’s indirectly paying the salaries of several of their in-house lawyers through a non-profit entity.  That is at least a circuitous in-kind contribution to the office of a politician; at worst, it is an end-run around the democratic process and constitutional checks and balances.  It is stealthy.

While the origin of the quote is unclear, it has oft been said that the hard Left believes that “the capitalists will sell us the rope with which we will hang them.”

No one ever anticipated that the rope might be donated.
