Why are we paying exorbitant prices to fuel our automobiles?

The policies pushed by the ideologues who surround President Biden have three dire consequences:

1- Hobble the free market

2- Increase public dependence on government for energy

3- Believe it or not, give China the upper hand in all world politics.

Prior to his inauguration, America achieved true energy independence for the first time since Harry Truman was President some 70 years ago—except for California, which has always preferred foreign crude oil. We were no longer held hostage to unstable petro-powers and the vagaries of foreign crude oil supplies.

On Biden’s second day in office he signed his Executive Order on Protecting Public Health and the Environment and Restoring Science to Tackle the Climate Crisis. That Executive Order (EO) paved the way to cancel the long awaited and universally known Keystone XL pipeline permit that passed almost a decade of environmental reviews. It was to bring oil from the Canadian Tar Sands of Alberta to a central storage area in Oklahoma and then on to the Gulf of Mexico in Texas for further disposition and in many cases export to Europe.

Following that EO, they issued Secretarial Order No. 3395, which suspended all new oil and gas leasing and drilling permits for 60 days on federal land and water. That was just a stalling tactic until they could end all drilling for the foreseeable future with the Executive Order on Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad. If Obama was able to stall the Keystone XL pipeline for a decade this latest EO will insure no long term drilling for ever.

This indefinite pause on new oil and natural gas leases on public landsuntil a comprehensive review on the climate change impacts can be completed, should be recognized as a permanent cease and desist order based on climate change politics. But we are not most of the world and have the greatest energy resources on the planet. If you think about it and we think you should, thwarting US production took precise planning. Today’s energy shortage is no accident.

Presently you are aware of the Administration calling for more US drilling and more oil from unfriendly nations as though they were not aware of having caused the entire shortage themselves. They truly believe we are stupid.

In part two of this series we will describe the second part of their strategy to wreck our economy by limiting our ability to manufacture virtually anything that requires derivatives of crude oil, which believe it or not, is almost everything. Say hello to the year 1850.
