“When I was starting the magazine, I really wanted to give women a place to tell their stories, a home base, so to speak, for the fly and for anybody that was getting into fly or wanted to get into it. And I wanted it to be empowering. Above all else, I wanted it to be, you know, fly can be so intimidating, all on its own, apart from being a male dominated sport, right. So I mean, it’s just as intimidating to go out there and try to cast a fly rod because everybody watches and you feel so awkward and you don’t know what you’re doing. And it’s like patting your head and rubbing your stomach right when you first start. And so I wanted to break down that stereotype in order to take the intimidation away from it.” — Jen Ripple, DUN Magazine Editor-in-Chief
