It’s that time of year again folks. The snow is melting, plants are beginning to grow, and college radicals have reemerged from their burrows to harass open dialogue and civil discourse.

Last week, CFACT director of communications Marc Morano made time in his busy schedule to stop by Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) to give a speech on free market environmentalism and CFACT’S impact on the current Trump administration’s policy positions.

Leftist social media post announcing their protest/counter-event

True to their nature, soon after Morano’s planned speech was announced, the local radicals sprang into what they would pitifully refer to as action. Bussing in adults from off campus, recruiting a few wayward students, and sadly but unsurprisingly, garnering the aid of several professors from SIUC, the “Carbondale Commune” organized a protest/counter-event directly outside the auditorium in which Morano’s speech was set to be held. Threats of egging, sit-ins, and other disruptions swirled on social media in the weeks leading up to CFACT’s event.

Due to these risks, police officers arrived on scene ahead of Morano’s speech to provide security for CFACT’s staff and students eager to hear from a climate expert with decades of knowledge and perspective.

As Morano’s talk drew near, students began streaming in despite the purposeful commotion just outside the lecture hall’s doors, forced to walk past the hateful glares and insults of rueful lefties. Students were welcomed and encouraged to peruse flyers, grab stickers, and fill up on other goodies at the CFACT booth before taking their seats.

Morano’s presentation attracted dozens of students from all walks of life and majors, even winning over some of the protestors from outside who decided to join when welcomed to do so by CFACT staff. Commanding the room with ease as he spoke, Morano gave a masterful overview of CFACT’s perspective on climate, environment, energy production, and conservation methods. Despite the purposeful but minor interruptions from some lefties in attendance such as excessive gift bag crinkling, coordinated cellphone beeping, and even one pair of obnoxious students loudly taking phone calls and playing YouTube videos on speaker, Morano’s lecture was well-received. The entirety of his speech is available online; you can watch it here.

After his presentation concluded, Morano took numerous questions from the audience during the Q &A portion of the event, from students friendly to our position to leftists in the crowd demanding philosophical concessions, he engaged with friend and foe alike. Meanwhile, CFACT collegian coordinator Nate Myers was dealing with the aggressive agitators outside the lecture hall.

Despite a heavy police presence, one agitator began ripping materials off CFACT’s table, seeking a quick getaway with trophies to tout to his loser friends. Having none of it, our courageous collegians coordinator pursued him, reclaiming our stolen property and denying the aggressor the satisfaction of theft. As they always do when confronted, the conniving perpetrator cried assault despite a lack there of, and a gaggle of commies quickly surrounded Mr. Myers, threatening violence. Thankfully, officers on-scene came to his rescue and broke up the skirmish before it escalated further.

Now whipped into a frenzy by the altercation, the protestors outside the auditorium became a growing security threat to all in attendance, forcing officers to provide CFACT staff and students a police escort to their vehicles after hurriedly packing up.

After making their hasty exit, CFACT’s party regrouped at a local pizzeria, enjoying each other’s fellowship, discussing the night’s highlights, and filling up well-earned pizza. Thanks to CFACT’s supporters, scores of students at SIUC now have a positive view of free market environmentalism and a first-hand understanding of how insufferable the left truly can be.
