Maybe I should call this, “Attention Governor Abbott.”

You could see the singular severe event this weekend coming a week away. An” All Hell will break loose” watch was issued by me Saturday March 8th.  So it was the kind of extreme that stuck out like a sore thumb

But is it the start of a throwback summer to the Dust Bowl which will mean  ADAPTATION  methods will be put to the test?  If that kind of drought and heat happened before it can happen again.,  And I think this summer it has a shote

Precip has already been well below normal for much of the south this year

A look at forecasts for AMJ precip

offers little hope west of I 35

Monsoonal and tropical impacts show up in JAS but that does little for the areas from west Texas north

So the heat can develop and feedback

Notice the southeast shadow developing, a product of what is likely going to be a hurricane season where in close development is a problem. But that is another story for another time. For a model to be seeing this lack of rainfall in the plains and that amount of heat ( remember in summer because its the hottest time of the year, its tough to get it hotter so this forecast if real, is spectacular). is a throwback to the dustbowl type years we had before in the 1930s

Am I am being an alarmist?  Yes If I am wrong. No, if I am right.

But why can’t this happen if it has happened before?  There is a new term climate alarmists are pushing called weather whiplash as they struggle to portray the cyclical back and forth as something out of the ordinary.  But part of the reason I am thinking this is on the table is I know the setups that occurred back in the 30s and so when I see it again, I say it.

The bad news:  There is much more infrastructure, dependence and people that can be impacted.  The good news we have adapted to a large degree and that is always going to be the solution. Knowing this is on the table 5 months away gets out in front. I am explaining it here, referencing it, so it can’t be made a political talking point. Sadly that is what weather and climate have become.  An endless game of people using the weather only when it happens to push an agenda, and then people like me showing it happened before. One solution is to get pro active.  3 weeks before Helene and Milton showing people the pattern that would do it,  9 days before Ian. and Sandy. like I did very publicly. Making it known. Just like now

My biggest wonder in all this, and part of my fascination with the state of Texas, is can their grid hold up.  What the previous administration did with energy, if people knew, would make them wonder if it’s criminal or treasonous. That is not for me to answer and perhaps historians years from now will.  By handcuffing us for 4 years ( actually for 3 decades since Gore and his ilk came on the scene), it is not only the 4 years lost in upgrading the grid, but the 4 years needed to gain.  Its an 8 year set back.  So the grid is handcuffed. Just where the heck do you get the energy to run your home and business with all the demand which is going to skyrocket given AI demands?  And if EVs come on that is really going to drive demand thru the roof among other things given they are. heavier vehicle.( I have nothing against EVS as an option and in fact, if ELON can figure out a way to make it so you can charge your TESLA at your house as an add-on to the car, then it makes the idea attractive.  EVS as short-term around-town options are simply taking what we do in retirement villages with golf carts and making it larger. The idea we were going mandate them with a grid on shaky grounds is either insane or purposeful deception, which is what we saw in Covid mandates and as I pointed out in The Weaponiatoin of Weather in the Phony Climate War, how Covid and Climate had similarities in their agenda)

So like I wrote 9 days before Ian with this for Gov DeSantis ( and have done a few times more on Twitter since).

Attention Governor DeSantis (Et al)

My call is going out to Governor Abbott and all those fine states that make up the plains   The Beryls and the windstorm yesterday we saw coming from a week out. They came and went and caused great hardship and I think we can agree at least in talking to people in SE Texas, what happened with Beryl was a fiasco with the system.  That was a cat 1.9 on our power and impact scale, which captured the idea that size matters and should have been used as the guide for the intensity rather than Saffir Simpson.  But the point is it was not a Carla which has a 4.3 on our scale or the Galveston hurricane which was a 4.7.  But what is coming at you now and other places is like watching Santa Ana mounting his armies and putting the Alamo into a siege.  A cumulative buildup of forces that could lead to prolonged misery if the grid is not ready. The windstorm was a singular volley this is has siege potential

Look you have to approach the weather like Patton did with war. Its not the 1800s anymore. The weather does not have to be worse to cause more damage. All it has to do is do what its capable of doing.  That you have charlatans that try to use that as a reason for saying its getting worse is absurd. So the fight is with what the atmosphere is up to and getting out in front then helps people in good way.

So the question is, knowing this is on the table, are you ready for it?   In the long run now that the country is moving toward a sane energy policy, I believe this will turn out to be like San Jacinto in the longer run, a success if we the reversals we see now take hold and are not reversed again.  But before that, looking at what is marching in before us, The siege could turn into the Alamo this summer..

But maybe with energy and climate, we need Will Travis’s  ( Alamao) and Sam Houston’s. ( San Jacinto)   Or at least their examples in how to stand up to this.

In the longer term, we have to move on the fastest way to get our grid to meet the demand that is coming,  We have a lot of work to do. It is not because the climate and weather are doing things they never did before  It is because of the natural demand that an upwardly mobile society creates.  That we had and still have people who are trying to stop progress is what got us here, and overall we should make sure that if and when these things happen we are out in front in assigning the reason.

Its amazing, that between migration and energy policies, the assault on the American people may be viewed someday by historians as treasonous behavior.  The former is being turned around quickly but its impact is going to lag.  It is harder to turn the energy part around but in both cases, the impact  and what this has done to LIMIT our nation has caused us more than we can calculate.

Notes and asides:  2 of my favorite people in history are William Travis and Sam Houston.  The former was 26 years old and in command in an impossible situation to buy time for the latter, 26 years old Think about the average 26 yer old today vs William Travis.   And Sam Houston who faced all the criticism while retreating till he found the place he wanted to fight on also fascinated me.  So excuse the references to Texas history here, but I see linkage in a lot of things when it comes to strategy, and the bravery and boldness of people like that are lights that are needed today.
