Profound lifestyle changes heading your way

“Dangerous man-made climate change” still animates Democrat and liberal politics. It’s used to justify a war on coal, restrictions on drilling and driving, cap-tax-and-trade schemes, wind and solar mandates, subsidies as high as $45,000 per electric car, higher fuel and electricity prices, and racketeering laws to prosecute anyone who questions the catechism of climate cataclysm. But the 2015 Paris climate pact necessitates even stronger actions – “profound lifestyle changes,” according to a new European Commission report.

Banning fossil fuel benefits

“Natural gas is a good, cheap alternative to fossil fuels,” former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi famously intoned. (Psssst. Ms. Nancy, natural gas is a fossil fuel.) “If I thought there was any evidence that drilling could save people money, I would consider it. But it won’t,” President Obama said in 2008. “We can’t drill our way out of the problem” of high energy prices and disappearing supplies, he still insisted two years later. How shocked he must be now. Horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing – aka, fracking – has unleashed a gusher of oil and natural gas, sent oil prices [...]

Base climate policies on reality, not deceit

Dangerous manmade global cooling, global warming, climate change, and extreme weather claims continue to justify what has become a $1.5-trillion-per-year industry: tens of billions spent annually on one-sided research and hundreds of billions sent to crony corporatists to subsidize replacing dependable, affordable carbon-based fuels with unreliable, expensive “renewable” energy. Some 50 million acres of U.S. crop and habitat land (equal to Wyoming) have been turned into corn-for-ethanol farms, biofuel plantations, and wind and solar installations. American forests are being converted to fuel for British power plants. Towering turbines butcher birds and bats, while Big Wind is exempted from endangered species rules [...]

Government’s Gold King whitewash

When a private citizen or company violates rules, misrepresents facts or pollutes a river, government penalties are swift and severe. It’s different when the government lies or screws up. Two weeks ago, Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell testified before Congress on a toxic spill that federal and state agencies unleashed into western state rivers last August. Supervised by officials from the U.S.Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (DRMS), an Environmental Restoration (ER) company crew excavated tons of rock and debris that had blocked the portal (entrance or adit) to the Gold King Mine above [...]

More outrages and insanities in Paris

President Obama and his UN colleagues are on a mission to ensure that the U.S. commits itself to drastic reductions in carbon dioxide emissions, thereby drastic reductions in the per capita income of Americans, and drastic reductions in human freedom - all for little or no environmental benefit. To accompllsh this, the alarmists tell us they are supposed to be far worse than the all-too-real butchery we have witnessed in San Bernardino, Boston, Fort Hood, Israel, Bali, Mali, Madrid, Mumbai, London, Lebanon, Libya, Iraq, Syria, Kenya, Nigeria – and Paris! With more to come.

A new strategy for tax cheats

The EPA and other Obama Administration agencdies pay out millions to those who review their work and then refuse to let even Congress see the results of the alleged research. Michael Mann got away with hiding the results of his own research from state government officials. All this and more to falsely convict carbon dioxide of causing climate calamity and then virtually ban the use of fossil fuels. This sham must stop.

Judicial activism endangering our citrus industry

CFACT Senior Policy Advisor Paul Driessen explains how judicial activism and fear-mongering by anti-pesticide activists has left the citrus industry in Florida and California without a key tool -- sulfoxaflor -- to fight a massive invasion of the flying aphid-like Asian citrus psyllid, which has already cut the Florida citrus yield by 60%. This time, even the EPA is on the side of the growers -- and they are working with the Court to reverse the ban. But so should we.

EPA’s clean power fraud

CFACT Senior Policy Advisor Paul Driessen makes a strong case for reining in the Environmental Protection Agency to protect the future of American prosperity. For example, the EPA's new Clean Power Plan may triple or even quadruple electricity rates in states now heavily dependent on coal for electricity generation. Sue and settle, junk science, and even deceptive or fraudulent practices by EPA employees must be curtailed.
