Do the Math – Count the cash

Bill McKibben has a new book out called "Do the Math!" This is, of course, new math -- applied to climate science, it means 16 x 0 = 160,000! Or something like that! But his point is simple: we're all gonna die!

Increasing clouds and thunderstorms for climate alarmists

"Climate scientists" and their political masters insist they are "right" about carbon dioxide being the precursor of "global warming" that is perhaps taking a pause but will surely return soon with a vengeance far more devastating than the same people predicted just a few years ago. Many go so far as to suggest that anyone who dares challenge them should be locked up or even tried for treason. Trouble is, Mother Nature is not cooperating with their scary scenarios. How long before people begin to notice that they are wearing no clothes in a blizzard?

What about those private sector furloughs?

Official Washington furloughed government workers without pay, but then voted to restore their lost pay and benefits upon resolving the budget dispute. Furloughed private sector workers will foot the bill but get no help from their government -- which instead continues to do them harm through laws and regulations that kill more and more good jobs.

Fallacious claims prop up ethanol

Greens carp about fracking, partly because it uses some water (up to 6.0 gal/MMBtu of energy produced). Yet they champion ethanol, which uses up to 29,000 gal/MMBtu, and biodiesel (up to 74,000 gal/MMBtu). Is this mere Green hypocrisy, or Greenback Greed? It is well past time to end the mandates and the subsidies for ethanol and biodiesel.

Taking cancer to the mat: 2013 updates in courage

Ben’s Code was simple. Survive. Think of cancer as normal, and just live your life. Never cry, complain, show pain or fear. Never question your superior ability to survive, or let cancer make you sad or jealous. His code may not work for everyone. It certainly didn’t work all the time for Ben. But like our American Constitution, it was his ideal, his inspiration for what he wanted to be and how he wanted to live. It’s the basis for his advice to others battling life-threatening diseases.

The buzz on bees: they are not going away!

Major losses in beehives year after year make it hard for beekeepers to turn a profit, and many have left the industry. “We can replace the bees, but we can’t replace beekeepers with 40 years of experience,” says Tim Tucker, vice president of the American Beekeeping Federation. But all these are different issues from whether bees are dying off in unprecedented numbers, and what is causing the losses.

“Stop stalling on climate change” (before everyone catches onto the scam!)

Climate alarmists are trying to sucker, snooker, and stampede us into taking “immediate action” on job- and economy-strangling taxes and restrictions, before more people catch on to what’s really happening. This protection racket is one more example of passing a law, so that we can find out what’s in it. We simply cannot afford to let science continue being coopted to serve anti-hydrocarbon political agendas.

Time to praise CO2 — the miracle gas!

The more CO2 there is in the atmosphere, the more it is absorbed by plants of every description – and the faster and better they grow, even under adverse conditions like limited water, extremely hot air temperatures, or infestations of insects, weeds and other pests. As trees, grasses, algae and crops grow more rapidly and become healthier and more robust, animals and humans enjoy better nutrition on a planet that is greener and greener.

Fracking yields trillions in benefits!

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, fracking requires just 0.6 to 5.8 gallons of water per million Btu of energy produced. By comparison, “renewable” and “sustainable” corn-based ethanol requires 2,510 to 29,100 gallons per million Btu of usable energy – and biodiesel from soybeans consumes an astounding and unsustainable 14,000 to 75,000 gallons of water per million Btu!

Climate alarmism’s 10,000 commandments

Even the most die-hard alarmists have finally recognized that average global temperatures have hardly budged since 1997, even as atmospheric levels of plant-fertilizing CO2 climbed steadily. For many areas, the past winter was among the coldest in decades; the USA and Britain just recorded one their coldest springs on record; and satellite data show that Earth has actually cooled slightly since 2002.

EPA and IPCC: America’s greatest environmental threats

EPA finds, punishes and even targets anyone who violates any of its ten thousand commandments, even inadvertently. EPA’s climate change actions, however, are not inadvertent. They are deliberate, and their effects are far reaching and often harmful. For better or worse, they affect all of us. And yet, these increasingly powerful bureaucrats – who seek and acquire ever more control over our lives – remain faceless, nameless, unelected, and unaccountable. Two points must be kept uppermost: the global warming “disasters” exist only in computer models, Hollywood movies and alarmist assertions; and the “preventative measures” are worse than the disasters.

Radical Greens ignore science in their fight to “save the bees”

Activists aren’t asking for investigation into these problems – which calls their science, sincerity and integrity into question. Their track record on DDT and malaria underscores this modus operandi. The activists get money, publicity, power and phony solutions – and end up hurting the very things (bees and people) they profess to care so much about.
