By Calvin Beisner The planet is doomed unless humans achieve zero net “carbon” emissions within 40 years—and maybe even if we do. That’s the word from 11 co-authors, led by Johan Rockstöm of the Stockholm Resilience Centre, of a pseudo-scientific screed published August 24 in Earth’s Future, an open-access online journal of the American Geophysical Union. Here’s the abstract: The scale of the decarbonisation challenge to meet the Paris Agreement is underplayed in the public arena. It will require precipitous emission reductions and a new carbon sink on the scale of the ocean sink within 40 years. Even then, the world is [...]
CEI's Bill Frezza recounts the tale of Galileo as precedent for the attempt today by cuckolded scientists on the take to incarcerate anyone who disagrees with the theories that have made them rich.
U.S. Senator Tim Kaine is among the leaders of a Senate cabal seeking to discredit climate skeptics, including the Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation, for which Megan Toombs is Director of Communications. Toombs notes that Kaine's attack is full of half-truths and blatant misrepresentations of fact. The same is true regarding the so-called arguments for catastrophic climate change.
Climate alarmists cannot separate human influences from natural causes for any recent changes. They do not know how much Earth will warm by 2100. They cannot say at what point further warming will be “dangerous” – or for which plant, wildlife, or human populations. They admit that slashing America’s fossil fuel use will reduce global warming by only a few hundredths of one degree (assuming CO2 drives climate change), especially if most countries continue burning coal, oil and natural gas.
This is the same very wealthy former Senator and Vice President Al Gore who has lobbied Congress for carbon cap-and-trade legislation which would have provided huge windfall benefits to his London-based hedge fund called Generation Investment Management (GIM) that he co-founded with former chief of Goldman Sachs Asset Management David Blood.
1988 was a barn-burner year for climate alarmists. Then-Sen. Al Gore’s steamy congressional hearing trumpeted a planet on fire, and the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was created to produce pseudo-scientific evidence blaming it on unfair capitalist industrial prosperity-spawned CO2 emissions. Canadian Environment Minister Christine Stewart explained the real cause for urgency. She told editors and reporters of the Calgary Herald, “No matter if the science of global warming is all phony . . . climate change [provides] the greatest opportunity to bring about justice and equality in the world.” Stewart was wrong. Consequences of that phony science upon [...]
CFACT Senior Policy Advisor Paul Driessen explains how the climate crisis cabal has systematically created and coordinated an effort to silence climate dissent -- and identifies the billionaire foundations behind this Inquisition.
Throwing the First Amendment down the toilet, 17 state attorneys general (Democrats) have conspired to conduct an Inquisition against climate realists in order to protect the $1.5 trillion climate crisis industry from being exposed as a total fraud on the world's population -- one that is responsible for energy poverty in Africa that takes countless lives, a growing energy poverty in Europe that is killing tens of thousands, and so many more dire consequences. Having lost the battle to attack the credibility of dissenting scientists, the plan now is just to lock them up or fine them and disallow any public exposition of their research. This plan is not going to work, promises CFACT's Paul Driessen and coauthor Ron Arnold.
According to Mark Twain, “Everybody talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it.” Now six state attorney generals (AG) have banded together to do something about it by initiating governmental legal prosecution. Can a modern “Reign of Terror” be far behind? These AGs claim a climate conspiracy implying that investors are unaware that climate changes may impact corporate investments, and have committed to using the power of the state to solve it. In early November 2015, Exxon Mobil was targeted by New York State Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman pursuing a legal case based on claimed similarities to the [...]
It’s been a rough stretch for Climate Armageddon religionists and totalitarians. Real World science, climate, and weather events just don’t support their manmade cataclysm narrative. The horrid consequences of anti-fossil-fuel energy policies are increasingly in the news. And despite campaigns by the $1.5-trillion-per-year government-industry-activist-scientific Climate Crisis Consortium, Americans consistently rank global warming at the very bottom of their serious concerns. But instead of debating their critics, or marshaling a more persuasive, evidence-based case that we really do face a manmade climate catastrophe, alarmists have ramped up their shrill rhetoric, imposed more anti-hydrocarbon edicts by executive fiat and unratified treaty – and [...]
There is no shortage of news stories touting the splits within each party. The Democrat divide is, as NBC News sees it, between dreamers and doers—with the International Business Times (IBT) calling it: “a civil war over the party’s ideological future.” The Boston Globe declares that the “party fissures” represent “a national party torn between Clinton’s promised steady hand and Sanders’ more progressive goals.” The Republican reality is, according to IBT, a battle between moderates and conservatives. The party is being “shattered” by the fighting between the establishment and the outsiders. The New Yorker said the days following the Detroit debate have “been the week of open civil war within the Republican Party.” Former standard-bearer Mitt [...]
After months of debate and public comments, President Obama’s controversial Clean Power Plan (CPP) was issued in August 2015 and published in the Federal Register on October 23, 2015. But that is hardly the end of the story. Instead the saga is just beginning—with the ending to be written sometime in 2017 and the outcome highly dependent on who resides in the White House. The CPP is the newest set of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations that the Atlantic states “anchors the Obama administration’s climate-change policy. It seeks to guide local utilities away from coal-fired electricity generation, and toward renewable energy and natural gas”—with a goal [...]
Frustrated that nobody seems to care about climate change, “the country’s biggest individual political donor during the 2014 election cycle,” has pledged even more in 2016. Tom Steyer spent nearly $75 million in the 2014 midterms, reports Politico. He intends to “open his wallet even wider” now. But just what do his millions get him in this “crucial election”? Based on history, not much. In 2014, his NextGen Climate Action group specifically targeted seven races. Only three went his way—to Democrats. In Iowa, the group “invested in billboards and television and radio, newspaper, and webads,” to target Republicans and “agitate for more [...]
Facts do not matter to the climate alarmist. Nor do politicians and UN bureaucrats let the facts on climate variability get in the way of their zealous mission to take control of the U.S. economy and redistribute our wealth to world dictators (themselves included). Responsible scientists have professional and ethical obligations to express uncertainties and doubts. The real climate change “deniers” are those who don’t exercise active skepticism…not those who do.
CFACT policy advisor Marita Noon says the GOP Congress got one A, two Bs, a C, and two Ds on its energy policy report card during 2015 -- but the B for the Keystone Pipeline ought to be an F if results, not good intentions, are the basis for grading.
