GIGO-based energy and climate policies

Yety another new "study" promises global disasters of biblical proportions if the U.S. does not unilaterally stop using fossil fuels (and indeed, must subsidize fossil fuels in India and China). But CFACT Senior Policy Advisor Paul Driessen exposes the buffoonery of the so-called Expert Market report - the latest in a long series of computer-driven fake reports that are crafted solely with the intent to frighten people into submission and never matching predictions with actual recorded data.

The hidden agendas of sustainability illusions

Like “dangerous manmade climate change,” sustainability reflects poor understanding of basic energy, economic, resource extraction, and manufacturing principles – and a tendency to emphasize tautologies and theoretical models as an alternative to readily observable evidence in the Real World. It also involves well-intended but ill-informed people being led by ill-intended but well-informed activists who use the concept to gain greater government control over people’s lives, livelihoods, and living standards.

Conservation – not more control

CFACT Senior Policy Advisor Paul Driessen reports on the final assault by the Obama Administration against Western States -- and a new war being declared against much of the rest of the country -- all to "save" three species of bumblebee but really intended to place much of the rest of private and state land in the U.S. under very restrictive federal government control. The best way to stop this assault on human freedom is to repeal, or drastically modify, the Endangered Species Act.

Reality-based climate forecasting

CFACT Senior Policy Advisor Paul Driessen demonstrates how the inappropriate, politicized fixation on so-called "climate science" is not even science since it is an opinion demanding a positive conclusion and how this is both teaching bad research habits but also starving much-needed research that can yield valuable results.

Environmentalist insurance policies

Many liberals went into denial, outrage, and riot mode after November 8. Now they’re having meltdown over President-Elect Donald Trump’s cabinet nominees with climate and environmental responsibilities. Former Texas Governor Rick Perry at Energy, Oklahoma AG Scott Pruitt for EPA, Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions for Attorney General, ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson at State, Montana Congressman Ryan Zinke at Interior. As Department of Agriculture secretary, and multiple assistant, deputy assistant, and other senior level positions are filled, the meltdown will likely raise sea levels by several feet. It’s even worse than “white supremacists” and “Russian hackers” rigging and stealing the election. Having [...]

Sea level rise – or land subsidence?

New research by Dr. Roger Bezdek shows that excessive groundwater pumping, not manmade "global warming," is the primary cause of subsidence in coastal areas studied -- subsidence that gives the false appearance of sea level rise. The best way to protect these coastal lands is to stop or sharply curtail groundwater pumping that collapses water tables and leads all too often to saltwater intrusion.

Five stages of climate grief

Ever since the elections, our media, schools, workplaces, and houses of worship have presented stories showcasing the stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Liberal-progressive snowflakes are wallowing in denial, anger, and depression. They cannot work, attend class, or take exams. They need safe “healing” spaces, Play-Doh, comfort critters, and counseling. Too many throw tirades equating Donald Trump with Adolph Hitler, while too few are actually moving to Canada, New Zeeland, or Jupiter after solemnly promising they would. Nouveau grief is also characterized by the elimination of bargaining and acceptance – and their replacement by two new stages: intolerance [...]

Pipeline anarchy

Is this to be our future? Last week’s elections will soon end autocratic rule via executive fiat, the war on coal and hydrocarbons, IRS agents targeting conservative groups, government SWAT teams invading businesses and homes, and numerous other Abuses and Usurpations. But now we’re getting leftist anarchy and riots – with mindless, incoherent radicals smashing Portland storefronts, beating a Chicago motorist, and pummeling a ninth grade Woodside, California, Trump supporter. Amid it all, the epitome of nihilist, watermelon environmentalist, criminal, sore-loser fury is raging south of Bismarck, North Dakota, where thousands of “peaceful protesters” are camping illegally on federal and private lands, “venting their [...]

Now comes the hard, fun, and vital part

The election of Donald Trump provides an excellent opportunity to rein in the EPA and other federal regulatory agencies that have joyfully far exceeded their constitutional and statutory mandates and done more to stifle the growth of the U.S. economy than any other arm of government. Cleaning house at the EPA, according to CFACT Senior Policy Analyst Paul Driessen, will by itself do much to jumpstart the U.S. economy.

“Roundup” the corrupt fear monger regulators

Environmental activists and government bureaucracies are today shameless as they falsify documents, hide research, mislead and obfuscate as they collude to fabricate a case against glyphosate (the key ingredient in Roundup) and thus subject farmers to further restrictions on their ability to provide food to the tables of the American people. Worldwide, these fear mongers have caused tens of millions of deaths from preventable and treatable diseases and from malnutrition.

Billionaire crony corporatist schemes

Shady cash from Vladimir Putin’s Russian energy oligarchs and other rich donors is being laundered through Bermuda-based lawyers and middlemen to “green” pressure groups, lobbyists, and spinmeisters – to promote “green energy” schemes that bring billions of dollars from government agencies (and thus from us taxpayers and consumers) to a cabal of billionaires and crony companies. At the epicenter are hedge fund millionaire Nathaniel Simons, his wife Laura Baxter-Simons, and their secretive Sea Change Foundation. “Investors” become even wealthier, as billions of dollars are transferred annually to environmentalists, scientists, politicians, bureaucrats, and crony-corporatists in Renewable Energy & Climate Crisis, Inc. The [...]

The chemicals anxiety machine

CFACT Senior Policy Analyst Paul Driessen explains how the EPA's war on coal, petroleum, nuclear, and hydroelectric power is an eco-imperialist war on reliable, affordable electricity – and on poor and minority families. Policies that drive energy prices up drive people out of jobs, drive companies out of business, drive families into green energy poverty.

Stormy climate deception

CFACT Senior Policy Analyst Paul Driessen destroys the argument that that the destruction caused by Hurricane Matthew was due to climate change or that climate change threatens the poor. Instead, Driessen points to a decision by President Obama to illegally take $500 million intended for addressing disease epidemics (such as occur after natural disasters) to the UN's Climate Action Fund and to other actions by green elites that raise the cost of electricity and thus everything -- actions that greatly harm the poor.

Blood cell phones and Teslas

CFACT senior policy analyst Paul Driessen questions the morality of greens who strongly condemn fossil fuels but wholly ignore the massive pollution and working conditions endured by those who mine the cobalt, rare-earths, and other metals that are necessary components of cell phones, computers, solar panels, wind turbines, and other so-called "renewable" resources. Driessen further touches on the hypocrisy of those who support only minimal economic development in Third World countries, and only what can be supported by wind and solar power -- while they ensure unsustainable, unconscionable poverty, disease, and death in poor nations.
