Alaska’s ANWR opening
Making ANWR oil available is a big step forward for America and all who wish renewed strength to the land of the free. The caribou and their wild friends will never know the difference, but we will.

Claims by environmentalists that the road would do “irreparable harm” to birds using the Pacific Flyway are belied by the well-documented experience of migratory birds along far more challenging flyways.
After 30 years, residents of King Cove, Alaska finally won approval for the construction of a road connecting their remote Aleutian fishing village to an all-weather airport. Yet the Center for Biological Diversity, Defenders of Wildlife, and their ilk would have the world believe that an 11-mile-long, single-lane gravel road will put birds migrating along the Pacific Flyway in peril.
“This is an agreement that will provide Alaska with an economic boom comparable to the development of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System in the 1970s.”
The Pacific walrus will not be listed under the Endangered Species Act, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) announced Wednesday, leaving intact a necessary food source for some Alaskan communities.
Climate alarmists now say the infamous Exxon Valdez oil spill – that multiple investigations said was caused by an inebriated captain and a crew that failed to follow proper protocol steering the vessel through Alaska’s Prince William Sound – is somehow linked to our SUV’s and smokestacks.
President Obama’s Alaskan climate grandstanding was a flop on its two most vital points.
Is it merely a coincidence that millions of dollars of Russian money have been laundered and forwarded to anti-fossil fuel radical environmentalists to fight exploration and development by the United States of Alaska's vast oil and gas and minerals reserves? While Russia plans to seize the entire Arctic for its own use, the United States shuts down all future development over nearly 20 million acres of land and sea -- for absolutely zero environmental benefit, especially since Russia will likely be able to exploit much of that same territory anyway. Just as bac, Obama did this despite universal opposition from Alaska's elected officials -- robbing the state of much-needed jobs and revenues. Hopefully, this theft and giveaway to Russia can be reversed.
This is an amazing story about humans -- and sled dogs -- and their battle against a challenging environment. Something to think about when we complain about the weather.
