CFACT energy policy advisor Marita Noon explains how people can stand up to Big Wind and fight against ugly wind farms that kill birds and bats, destroy landscapes, and require subsidies to operate.
Draconian energy regulatory policies are being premised upon tax-funded climate alarmism promulgated by government agencies we are supposed to trust. The latest and arguably most dangerous example is the Obama Administration’s proposed “Clean Power Plan” (CPP). CPP enactment is currently subject to a pending District of Columbia Court of Appeals decision following a Supreme Court stay on constitutional challenges. If allowed to proceed, sweeping new EPA rules will effectively nationalize control over all power generation and consumption, thereby usurping authority previously exercised by individual states. Compliance will require state legislatures to pass new laws or regulations to shift energy mixes from [...]
The 5,000 megawatt wind energy system being discussed for Lake Erie – and even more so, the absurdly ambitious 4,000,000 megawatt wind energy “vision” for U.S. lake and ocean areas – will harm human health and welfare, job creation and preservation, wildlife and environmental quality, while doing nothing to reduce or prevent climate change: manmade, “dangerous” or otherwise.
If a country’s goal is to decrease carbon emissions by increasing reliance on renewable energy, it only makes sense to install the new equipment in the location with the best potential—both in geography and government. For Australia, which has a national Renewable Energy Target (RET) of 33,000 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity generated by defined renewable sources by 2020, South Australia (SA) is that place. According to SA Treasurer Tom Koutsantonis, who is also the Energy Minister, the federal government had determined that SA is where “the best conditions for wind farms” could be found. The state government was amenable, [...]
Wealthy anti-fracking zealots created a petition campaign to try to shut down the entire oil and gas industry in Colorado -- but say little about the costs of their extreme proposals.
CFACT Senior Policy Advisor Paul Driessen, noting that both major party candidates for President support local control over fracking, suggests that local control should also extend to wind farms, solar arrays, forest management, and other issues that today are rigged in favor of those who shut down or redirect development by fiat.
The folly of industrial wind is nowhere more evident than in New York State, which for decades has gotten half of its electricity from clean nuclear plants and hydroelectric (dams). Thus, the $176 billion in wind subsidies (for which the wind companies spend $20 million a year on lobbying) is in reality a means to support the Ponzi scheme that enriches Big Wind, Big Banks, and Big Politicians. It is time to turn off the fan.
A taxpayer-funded Wisconsin wind turbine only generated enough electricity to power eight homes, according to an investigation published Monday.
Wind turbines benefit rent-seeking crony capitalists... that's about it.
Cambridge University electrical engineering professor Dr. M.J. Kelly concluded in a peer-reviewed journal article that attempts to fight global warming with green energy will impoverish the world.
The amount of money flowing into European green energy from governments and the private sector collapsed from $132 billion in 2011 to $58 billion last year.
Wind and solar power nearly fried Germany’s power grid, but the disaster was prevented when the German government paid consumers to use electricity.
Denmark’s government abandoned plans to build five offshore wind power farms Friday amid fears the electricity produced there would become too expensive for Danish consumers.
Now the President Obama has made good on his promise to bankrupt the U.S. coal industry, he (and his potential successors Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders) are poised to do likewise to the nation's oil and gas and nuclear power industries. Given that neither solar nor wind power is 24-7 reliable, this will surely lead both to massive financial ruin and intermittent energy availability in many parts of a very crippled U.S. economy. Worst of all -- this appears to be their vision, their goal -- to bankrupt America and put an end to personal freedom in the process.
The Obama Administration drive to eliminate U.S. use of fossil fuels is nothing short of insanity (or a devious plot to weaken the U.S. against foreign foes). The results of these policies will either be catastrophic destruction of American cropland, fuel rationing (and maybe even vehicle rationing), and economic collapse. Meanwhile, so-called "developing" countries will get a free pass so that the overall impact on the environment will likely be negative. But the politicians and their friends will get rich rewards and not be bound by the diktats they impose on others.
