Sea otters were once found in abundant numbers along America's Pacific rim.  But during the extensive fur trading of the 18th and 19th Century, this playful creature was almost driven to extinction.  Thankfully, conservation measures to protect the mammal have proven successful, and today, according to the U.S. Geological Survey, its numbers are at record levels.  Indeed, a recent count found there were some 2,500 sea otters in California, up from 2,100 just a year ago.  And though there have been some concerns raised about the increased number of otters getting sick and dying, U.S. Fish and Wildlife officials [...]

Fish and mercury warning hardly seaworthy

Mercury and fish.  It's been making headlines for months now, ever since the FDA warned pregnant women to severely limit their intake of fish and seafood.  But according to science writer Steven Milloy of FOXNews.com, the FDA's fishy alarm is hardly seaworthy when it comes to the hard science.  For starters, Harvard's School of Public Health could find no specific health complaints associated with higher levels of mercury, and even regular consumers of large species like swordfish had no mercury-related health effects.  Since no adverse effects were also found from pre- or post-natal exposure, it's little wonder Milloy suggests [...]

Research dams alarmist concerns on flooding

For years, many who are concerned about the impacts of global warming have warned about the disappearance of small island nations from rising sea levels.  Now comes a new study by researchers at the University of the South Pacific that should dam up these alarmist claims of flooding.  According to the researchers, data collected over 130 months from the Australian Marine Science and Technology outfit indicates that sea levels have both risen and fallen across the Pacific during that time.  In short, the lead researcher says, "Fears that small nations are disappearing under the ocean were exaggerated.  We do [...]

We could certainly run our ships, planes, and vehicles at slower speeds. And if we returned to horse-drawn wagons, vehicle collisions with deer would be eliminated. But does anyone really think this would stop sea levels from rising?

Absurd “loss & damage” policy advances at UN’s Bonn climate summit

By

Loss and damage is diplomatic code for the idea that the developed countries, especially America, should pay the developing countries for the bad things that they attribute to climate change. This includes pretty much all bad weather, plus the supposed effects of sea level rise, and who knows what else.
