CFACT official comment: CAFE reform will offer important relief

The Trump administration’s plan to freeze corporate average fuel economy (CAFÉ) standards for five years and to revoke California’s power to set its own gas-mileage rules will bring much-needed reform to the antiquated Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFÉ) standards.

EPA rolling back Obama’s mercury rule

The Obama administration originally found that forcing coal-fired plants to use the mercury control technology would cost an estimated $9.6 billion a year — the most expensive clean air regulation. Politifact justified its ruling that EPA is telling a half-falsehood in stating emissions are down under President Trump by stating emissions – under the booming Trump economy – are not falling quite as quickly as they did under the stagnant Obama economy. The fact is U.S. emissions continued to decline -- just as EPA reported.
