Efforts to deploy wind and solar systems face a rising tide of opposition in towns, counties, and states.

How close is science to providing an endless supply of emissions free energy to power the planet?
President Trump, who has vowed to end electric vehicle mandates and expressed his loathing for offshore wind turbines, has found a kindred spirit in Mr. Wright.

You won’t read much about this in major media outlets, but nearly every week, local communities across the US are rejecting or restricting solar and wind projects. The latest rejection occurred a few days ago in Center, Nebraska when the Knox County Board of Supervisors voted 6 to 1 to deny a conditional-use permit for a proposed solar project. According to an article by Mark Mahoney of the Yankton Daily Press & Dakotan, the board’s decision “drew applause from most of a nearly full courtroom at the county courthouse.” The denial of the project in Knox County marks the 58th rejection [...]

John Fetterman has indicated that energy would not be in the forefront of Pennsylvanians’ voting decisions this year, but he may not be accounting for its relation to inflation. Inflation ranks as crucially important, a top concern of the voting public in the 2024 election. While the energy issue had a marginal effect in Pennsylvania’s 2020 election cycle, its connection to higher prices could be decisive in 2024. In the spring, a Commonwealth Foundation survey of 800 Pennsylvania registered voters found that more than two-thirds named inflation as an impediment to maintaining their standard of living. [...]

Since all hospitals, airports, communication systems, militaries, planes, trains, and vehicles are based on products that did not exist before the 1800s and are now made from fossil fuels, today’s policymakers are incapable of sharing a plan to support a supply chain for the products and fuels demanded by today’s materialistic society and economy as America tries to reduce its dependency on crude oil. The elephant in the room that no one wants to discuss is that crude oil is the foundation of our material intensive society as it is the basis of all products and fuels demanded by the 8 [...]
In March, the US Environmental Protection Agency published new methane emissions regulations for the oil and gas industry. The European Union enacted new rules to reduce methane emissions from the energy sector in May. Agriculture is also being targeted regarding methane. But methane regulations, even if established worldwide, won’t have a measurable effect on global temperatures. However, they will raise costs for energy and food, impacting consumers and businesses. On March 8, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) finalized its rule on methane emissions for the oil and gas sector. The rule is intended to “reduce wasteful methane emissions that endanger communities [...]
